1. Stop by the Zoo and Aquarium

Even though it’s located in a city, the Pittsburg Zoo and Aquarium has around 475 different animal species for you to see. It was founded back in 1898 and has been growing ever since.

Keep your eyes open for sloths, Galapagos tortoises, and even some penguins.

2. See Color at Randyland

A free attraction in the Northern part of Pittsburg, Randyland is actually a real person’s house turned art exhibit.

Randy Gilson purchased his home in 1995 and turned it into a colorful landmark, full of original paintings and unique objects.

Look closely and you may find neon plastic swans, suits of armor, and big butterflies made from found items.

3. Real Life Scavenger Hunt

Are you good at clues? Do you like a little bit of thrill when exploring a new place? If so, check out this popular escape room.

An escape room will put your puzzle-solving skills to the test, requiring you to decode messages and find hidden objects throughout various rooms.

Depending on your specific taste, you can find a room decorated like a haunted mansion, a casino, or a tropical island.

4. Things to Do in Pittsburgh: Carnegie Museum

The Carnegie Museum of Natural History will enthrall you. Here you’ll see dinosaur bones, glittery gems, and more. It is one of four Carnegie Museums in the city.

While you may not want to spend your entire day inside, the museum is a great stop to escape excess heat or a rainy day.

5. Robot Hall of Fame

One of the more unique things to see, the Robot Hall of Fame is located inside the Carnegie Science Center.

The exhibit showcases past and current technology, while giving you a glimpse into what could be. Definitely put this on the list if you have young children, as they will get the chance to interact with some of the displays.

6. Monongahela Incline

You won’t want to miss the oldest funicular railway in the United States. Originally built between 1869 and 1870 to assist commuting coal/steelworkers, it’s a great place to get a history lesson while catching breathtaking views of the city.

7. Brew Works

Once a sanctuary, St. John the Baptist Church has now been transformed into a well-known brewery.

Built in 1902, the church was abandoned around 1993 due to economic woes of the city. Just a few years later, the Church Works Brewery moved in and began renovations. It’s since been named one of Pittsburgh’s best breweries.
