Bidens Honored with Annual Delaware State Chamber of Commerce Award
WILMINGTON, Del. -- Former U.S. Vice President and Delaware Senator Joe R. Biden, Jr. and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden were both recognized Monday with the Josiah Marvel Cup Award, presented by the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce.
According to the organization, they presented the Biden's with the award at their Chamber’s 181st Annual Dinner. Mr. Biden was presented with the award before he delivered his keynote remarks. The Chamber said they recognized Mr. Biden's 36 years in the U.S. Senate and his time as Vice President, as well as everything he's accomplished to promote awareness and action on a number of issues. The Chamber also said they recognized Dr. Biden's lifelong work as an educator and activist in her community, as well as highlighted all the issues she helped shed light on while serving as Second Lady.
The aware was first created in 1951 and was established to recognize a Delawarean who has made an "outstanding contribution to the state, community, or society," the Chamber said.
