Delmarva
FOX21 Delmarva began
broadcasting in 2003 as UPN21, a digital multicast channel of WBOC.
Then in August 2006, the station switched affiliation to the FOX
Broadcasting Company, and thus, FOX21 Delmarva was
born.
FOX21 airs top-rated FOX shows including American Idol,
House, 24, NFL, NASCAR and MLB. Plus FOX21 airs two newscasts: First
at Five on FOX21 and FOX21 News at Ten, both of which are produced
by WBOC News… Delmarva’s News Leader.
WBOC News is a regional
news source. We make a commitment every day by way of resources, air
time and experience to do the best job we can covering issues that
affect the entire Delmarva Peninsula.
In Maryland, the
stations reach Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, Dorchester, Talbot,
Caroline and Queen Anne's counties. In Delaware, they reach Sussex
and Kent counties. In Virginia, they reach Accomack County. These 10
counties comprise just under 500,000 viewers, not including those
who visit area beaches during the summer.
WBOC & FOX21’s
main studio is in Salisbury, Md. On Aug. 26, 2008, WBOC & FOX21
began to broadcast high definition newscasts from the
newly-constructed NewsPlex.
The NewsPlex is
11,340-square-foot state-of-the-art high definition digital
broadcast facility. This multi-million dollar facility was
constructed behind WBOC & FOX21’s main building on 1729 N.
Salisbury Blvd. in Salisbury.
In addition to WBOC &
FOX21's Salisbury location, two satellite newsrooms are operated in
Dover and Milton, Del., with both news staffs and sales
divisions.
WBOC, FOX21 and WBOC Interactive are locally-owned and operated by Draper Holdings, which also owns Loblolly, LLC.
